IRM was at the AMFA Beer and Wine Tasting earlier this week! The event was well attended, and we talked with vendors and attendees who were interested in the project!
IRM hasn't completed a blog post in a while so some quick updates! The first meet up went awesome! Almost 30 people attended and signed a petition stating they would be part of the makerspace as it was presented. Funding is coming along slower than we would like, but it is coming so that's a huge positive! Also the second maker meet up is scheduled for March 17th same location 6pm-8pm. IRM is in the top 5 for the Big Ideas challenge which is worth up to $10,000. IRM also attended both Recharge the Range sessions that were at the MN Discovery Center. A tour of the building that IRM wants was a success as well. Thats it for now! Thanks!
Maker Meet Up: Iron Range Makerspace LLC (IRM) in partnership with the Hibbing Community Senior Citizens Center is hosting a Maker Meet Up! The session will involve an update on the project thus far as well as the opportunity to have input on the start up. There will be lemonade, coffee, and some snacks for your indulgence. IRM will also have an assortment of prizes to be given out while supplies last! Come and meet other makers in your community and participate in bringing IRM to life. An IRM representative will be available before, during, and after to answer questions about the project. Hope to see everyone there, feel free to spread the word!
February 18th 6:00pm-7:00pm

Welcome everyone to the year of 2016! Iron Range Makerspace (IRM) is hoping to make 2016 a very eventful year for us. To start, IRM is going to be hosting a Maker Meet Up. This event has two main purposes: to get people involved with creating the makerspace in ways such as idea generation and volunteer opportunities, and to identify who day one members will be. At this point in time, IRM is asking what times are going to work best for our community. The location of the meet up will be in Hibbing, MN. The window of opportunity for IRM is between 5pm and 10pm weekdays or anytime on the weekends. The meeting will likely last 1 hour and content will include introductions, what has been done thus far, financial status/needs, and the plan for the future. Please message us with what day of the week and time would work best for you, and then we will schedule our first Maker Meet Up based on what people say!!!
The full team presented to the public on December seventh. The purpose of the presentation was to gain the public's attention on the project as well as gain feedback on the idea. Iron Range Makerspace (IRM) was well received with over 60 people in attendance. The presentation was covered by FOX 21 and KBJR. Next step regular maker meet up, stay tuned!
IRM sends out thanks everyone who attended and covered the event! If you missed it or simply wish to watch it again please check out the presentation below.
